Enter a brief post (50 words or less in true blog style). Your post is to include your research, process of learning, and how you intend to use your new skill in your future classrooms. Read your classmate's posts each week. Be sure to let us know what you are learning in each post. Keep track of where you have left off reading so that you don't have to read all of the entries again. If you need to edit your post, click on the little pencil below your post. Feel free to check in on Group 2 at any time, though http://learn-new-technology-2.blogspot.com/. Having two groups just keeps your reading load down a bit.

Hey all Shawn here (having issues with finding my name/account ... ARRGH!)... another week has passed and I sit here trying to get all my work for school, the play, and this class accomplished. Randy ... I don't even have a FACEBOOK account for the very reason you describe. I could care less! :) Anyway ... I am plugging along on my turnitin.com research and putting together whatever it is that I am doing for my presentation. As far as progress, I have spoken with the teacher in my building who is the professed guru of this site and have gleaned quite a bit of info off her. I am also creating a short assignment for my class to submit to the site so I can use it as data in my presentation. HAVE A GREAT WEEK! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
ReplyDeleteHey Shawn Glenn here. I have to get use to bloogin, facebook man here.
ReplyDeleteHello everyone, This is Greg. I am not a fan of the blogging, and I too am having issues getting here on a consistent basis, I think I need to create a shortcut. For my project, I will admit that this was a bad week and I didn't put in as much time as I probably should have. I am planning to put in more leading up to the presentations, so hopefully it won't come back to bite me, so similar to last week, I am organizing info on podcasting to present to you in two weeks...TWO WEEKS???
ReplyDeleteLove to read everyone's posts; I feel instantly connected--we're all in this together!
ReplyDeleteSo I'm working on a presentation theme that speaks to future technology in the classroom. I'm excited about this and thought I'd focus on the iPad, especially since our school has an entire cart of brand new iPads -- that I haven't seen anyone using yet. The other day I asked some of the staff about the iPads, but was told they're off-limits except to a few teachers who applied for the grant. I'm so sad; and the cart is sitting so forlornly unused. Hate to waste a good iPad...especially when I have an app for that!
Giovanna Alaimo: Hello ya'all. There is not as much information on "The Cloud" that I would like however, my friends are getting with me to help introduce how to use it. If anyone out there would like to share any tidbits pertaining to Cloud Computing, welcome!

ReplyDeleteI am having an issue with what to teach for the tech presentation because there is so much to know about Excel. I have learned a ton on MicroSoft Excel by using the MicroSoft website and I am also getting help from a co-worker who teaches Excel in her CTE classes. She has been my best source because she can answer my questions and show me tricks that would have otherwise taken me much longer on my own. She has also allowed me to sit in on her classes during my prep period and I have observed lessons with the use of Excel. Now that I have this much info I am working on narrowing down my presentation.

ReplyDeleteMy topic is Live cams-web cams and I'm wondering how much I'll need to invest in hardware and software to experiment...or do I just do research and present in theory.

ReplyDeleteThe sawstop will be the main focus of my presentation. There are many items in construction that integrates technology. I will be bringing some samples and if ok have a vounteer to help demonstrate the advantages of technology.

Tooling around the teachertube website I've noticed that the interface is not very user friendly. Comparing it to youtube, it's very difficult to navigate and locate a video that I'm searching for. Still trying to get comfortable with the site to be able to incorporate into my classroom
ReplyDeleteWow, 10 minutes to convince you all that cameras and videos make great teaching tools both teacher/student and peer/student teaching. Most people can point...shoot...and upload a pic, but editing can actually planning your presentation is more complicated. I live in a Mac World and Photo Shop rules, but so many teachers are exposed to Windows programs, as are students. What to emphasize is the question?
ReplyDeleteWierd, I had posted something for this week, but went back to check after seeing missing 30 points for this week, and must've assumed it posted when I clicked icon. I might have forgotten to do the silly picture code verification. This week I started a class web site that students can check assignments for math class from home. I hope the week to week addons to this website will be enough for a presentation.
