Enter a brief post (50 words or less in true blog style). Your post is to include your research, process of learning, and how you intend to use your new skill in your future classrooms. Read your classmate's posts each week. Be sure to let us know what you are learning in each post. Keep track of where you have left off reading so that you don't have to read all of the entries again. If you need to edit your post, click on the little pencil below your post. Feel free to check in on Group 2 at any time, though http://learn-new-technology-2.blogspot.com/. Having two groups just keeps your reading load down a bit.

I found two helpful sites in learning more about The Cloud.
www.microsoft.com/cloud is a wonderful site that introduces The Cloud and its advantages. The beauty of Cloud Computing is that it helps people stay connected because it’s social networking capabilities allows users to tap into the organization or classroom knowledge. There is this Office 365 that I would like to learn more about because it helps organize your office virtually anywhere via emails, contacts, calendars, etc. on the go!
www.intel.com/cloudcomputing explains how to operate IT infrastructures via The Cloud.

  2. I've got a lot of technology on my mind these days. Fortunately, iPads in the classroom are a hot topic and I'm finding quite a few very contemporary articles on the internet. For example, http://www.ipadinschools.com/(wish I could hyperlink this for you). Also watching for my students who carry iPads--asking them how they use the tool in school. Wish there was more interest and talk about iPads among my colleagues--I have yet to see any teachers using them, and, as I've mentioned in the past, the cart of iPads in the storage room doesn't appear to be used much.... Gotta get my hands on 'em!

  3. OK ... My presentation is complete, but now I am worring about the fact that it must access the internet and also the sound system at the school. AV always seems to fail at the worst moment, right? I am going to go to the Woodinville library today to test my presentation at least one other location. Hope it works!

I use technology all the time, The new Sawstop is steeling the show. They want me to put my hand on it, not a hand maybe a hotdog like on the video.

  5. Hi All! I never imagined all the different types or categories of podcasts there are. I am addicted to listening to as many as possible. I am still hoping to organize for a good presentation.
I may try to create a podcast, but have no idea on what topic....

  6. I've put together a little video tutorial for my presentation that will assist in demonstrating how to use the teachertube.com site. The problem I encountered is that loading videos to the site must be under 100 MB. That's an incredibly small file size. My 3 minute video is over 700MB. Working on trying to change file size so I can pull my video off the site presentation day

  7. I had hoped to borrow a school camera to demonstrate how useful they are. In the case of so much modern technology, they are not built to withstand student use. $25,000 were of cameras and only one is functioning, no money in the budget to upgrade or replace. In trying to teach "state of the art" technology we are handicapped by funding issues. My only thought....DEPRESSING!

  8. Good evening ... Here I am on a Sunday night again feeling behind and bedraggled! I continue to move forward on my TURNITIN.COM presentation. Trying to remember that many schools do not have a site license and therefore I don't want to delve to deeply into all the bells and whistles, rather spend my time discussing why plagarism sites are a good thing. I also don't want to come across as a paid spokesman on behalf of the site encouraging you all to go back to your schools and demand you purchase this particular site! It is the one we have so I am used to it. ARRGH! Anyway ... I leave you with my favorite quote. It gets me through every day of my life, "It will all be ok in the end. If it isn't ok then it isn't the end!" Take care! SHAWN

  9. There are a lot of ideas out there for webcam lessons in the classroom. The more I look into this the more I find and some of it is helpful, but many of the answered questions lead to more work and more questions. I still am a ways from bringing it together as something to present next week.

My friend Paige helped to opened up a whole new world to me today by sharing how she uses CLOUD! Oh my goodness gracious, it's absolutly wonderful! Everyone should be on The Cloud. I am storing pictures on Cloud so that I can empty my camera and still have all my pics saved. I am planning on storing my lesson plans on Cloud to share with my colleagues. It's a wonder tool and the first 2g are free to use. Invite someone elsr to join and earn more gigs! I am excited about this!
